The Hefner Fund was established in 1988 as an independent entity, separate from the Oxford Rotary Club, and organized exclusively for charitable purposes, under IRS guidelines. Its charitable focus is on the youth of our community, that is, the area served by the Talawanda School District.
The Fund was named for Dr. Robert Hefner, a founding member of the Oxford Rotary Club and former Chair of the Department of Zoology at Miami University.
The Hefner Fund is governed by a Board of Directors; directors are members of the Oxford Rotary Club and are elected by the Oxford Rotary Club membership. It is funded primarily by monthly contributions from members of the Oxford Rotary Club and by the Stars and Stripes Fundraiser operated throughout each year by the Club. For the past several years the Hefner Fund has awarded scholarships to Talawanda High School seniors and grants to a number of organizations that provide services to the youth in our community. Total annual support has averaged in excess of $20,000.
Each year, the Oxford Rotary Club hosts a lunch for the Scholarship and Grant recipients and their parents.
The Hefner Fund is administered by the Oxford Community Foundation. To learn more about the Fund please contact the Oxford Rotary Club's current Hefner Board Chairman listed on our Home Page for additional information on how to donate to the Fund or the process to apply for Grants or Scholarships that benefit individuals living in the Talawanda School District.
